Botox Injections Botox treatments are a series of injections delivered to specific muscle groups of the face that are responsible for deep frown lines, furrows and crow's feet. Botox is purified neurotoxin complex that is derived from the botulinum toxin. The series of injections provides temporary weakness of those muscles which smoothes the lines they had created. This treatment has virtually no recovery time. Botox for Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) The latest application for use of Botox is to reduce the amount of perspiration in the armpits. For people with severe sweating, their insurance may even pay for part of the treatment as a medical condition. Tiny injections which are only mildly uncomfortable can be done in just a few minutes and give relief from excessive sweating for up to a year. N-Lite Laser for Wrinkles N-Lite laser is a non-ablative (no downtime) laser to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating the production of the patient's own collagen as opposed to injecting animal collage. This is an ideal treatment for patients who don't want injections and can't afford any down time. Filler Injections Collagen implants are a fast, safe, and non-surgical way to enhance the lip border and reduce the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and scars. Collagen implants are injected just beneath the skin's surface where the body commonly accepts them as its own, producing an immediate visible difference in the appearance of your skin. Treatment time varies based on the number of implant sites. There is little or no recovery time. Human collagen does not require any allergy testing and gives immediate results that can last 3 months. For longer lasting results Restylane® or Perlane® can be used with the same injection techniques and has usually 6-8 months longevity. For more information visit www.restylane.com. Dr. Munyon also offers Radiesse. In some individuals Radiesse material will last with minor touchups for over a year or more. For more information visit www.radiesse.com. Laser Hair Removal We use two diffrent Laser Systems for Laser Hair Removal depending on the skin type you are we can use the Cynosur Alexandrite Laser or the Palomar Laser: The Cynosure Alexandrite Laser is a state-of-the art system specially designed to permanently remove unwanted hair faster, less painfully and more reliably than any other hair removal system on the market. This laser is FDA-approved for permanent hair reduction. Treatment time varies depending on the size of the desired treatment area and has virtually no recovery time. In 1996, Palomar became the first light-based technology company to receive FDA clearance for Permanent Hair Reduction. Since then, we have continued to develop more powerful and effective technology to achieve the quickest possible hair clearance. Pulsed Light hair removal works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair. "This system gives a rapid hair reduction with less discomfort and less treatment time than pre-existing products and at a cost that is more affordable to the doctor and the patient." Acne Treatment (PDT 2 step treatment) We perform a remarkable new treatment for resistant acne uses the sophistication of light-based technology combined with a safe, naturally occurring topical chemical. Cases of hard-to-treat, severe and persistent acne show striking improvement in four or five treatments. Photodynamic Therapy is indispensable in controlling cystic acne. Since acne cysts are responsible for acne scarring, it has become a first-line defense for both immediate acne management and prevention of post-acne scars. Step 1: The first step is the application of the light-absorbing agent Levulan. This liquid is left on your skin for 15-45 minutes while it very selectively sinks into pimples, acne cysts and the overactive sebaceous glands that feed acne bacteria. The absorption of the Levulan essentially turns the acne and oil glands into "targets" for the next step - light. Step 2: The unabsorbed Levulan is removed from your skin and you are placed under a special blue light. This light is drawn to the "targets", strong oxygen radicals are formed and and the bacteria responsible for the acne is killed. Levulan is a "smart" solution. It is onlyabsorbed by abnormal cells such as those in acne conditions, pre-cancerous actinic keratoses, and sun damage. It is the selectivity of this solution in targeting only bad cells that allows such quick success in restoring skin to a healthy normal condition. "Photodynamic Therapy is not only a turning point in the control of your acne, it's a turning point in how you live your life." Once the acne cycle is broken, a consistent yet simple home maintenance program will help prevent any serious relapse. An occasional single PDT session will keep your skin at it's optimum level of improvement. Photodynamic Acne Therapy is a dependable treatment with proven results. Short term post-treatment side effects can include reddening of the skin, some mild peeling and sun-sensitivity. Please note that for the first 48 hours after a PDT treatment you must stay out of the sun. This treatment might be covered by your insurance. Please check with your provider before making the appointment. We can also use the Palomar system to fight acne: The Palomar LuxV dual band handpiece employs a broad spectrum of light to attack acne on two fronts: The LuxV's short wavelength (400-700 nm) is ideal for absorption by porphyrins; this destroys p. acnes bacteria for a quick clearance of current acne breakouts The longer wavelength (870-1200 nm) penetrates deeper into the hyperactive sebaceous glands and slows down their metabolism to prevent future acne from forming. "The advantage of Palomar's approach to the treatment of acne is that it doesn't involve medication and can be performed in the office without relying on the patient's compliance at home. Use of the LuxV handpiece offers acne sufferers a non-drug, easy and effective alternative without the side effects commonly found with drugs. Patients have been extremely happy with the results and enjoy benefits of long lasting clear skin after just a few treatments." Chemical Peel Skin Rejuvenation System Chemical peels use a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. We offer two different types of chemical peels that will help you achieve the best skin appearance and health.
Beta Lift Peel This chemical peel is very similar to the glycolic acid peel but is designed to treat more pigment sensitive skin. The beta hydroxy acid molecule is larger thereby providing a more superficial level of penetration into the skin which is where most pigmentation problems exist. Peels take about 30 minutes and have virtually no recovery time. DiamondTome Skin Resurfacing Resurfacing is a technique for removing the topmost layers of skin leaving it supple and vibrant. The DiamondTome Wand removes chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells. This procedure, otherwise knows as Medical Microdermabrasion, runs approximately 30 minutes and has virtually no recovery time. Photoderm Treatments "We use the Palomar system for our IPL's: Palomar has developed the RejuveLux(tm) Photofacial process for the treatment of pigmented and vascular lesions on the face, as well as the arms, chest, and other large areas. Using the LuxG and LuxB, the RejuveLux process is able to clear sunspots, rosacea, telangiectasias, and other conditions, in order to improve skin tone. Treating a pigmented lesion with the pulsed light results in heating the melanin. The damaged lesion is then naturally sloughed as the skin exfoliates. Similar results are seen in the treatment of vascular lesions. The absorption of the light in oxyhemoglobin, de-oxyhemoglobin, and the resultant thermal action inside the blood vessels result in intraluminal coagulation, vasoconstriction, and damage to the vessel endothelial lining, all of which contribute to the degeneration and disappearance of any visible vessels." Laser Acne Treatment N-Lite laser is an FDA approved treament for reducing inflammatory lesions of acne. In clinical studies one 5 minute treatment can reduce acne by 50% in half of the patients who tried the laser. There is no down time and no pain. One British researcher called it the "greatest advancement in acne treatment in thirty years." Male Hair Loss Propecia (finasteride) is the only FDA approved prescription medication available for hair loss in men. Dr. Munyon is an approved consultant and distributor for this "one pill a day" medication that can slow and even reverse hair loss. No wigs, sprays or messy lotions. Propecia is now offering a money back guarantee from the manufacturer. To read more about PROPECIA, please visit www.propecia.com. Laser Body Reshaping/Cellulite Treatment Until now, the only options for body reshaping involved surgical procedures at high costs with significant downtime and invasive techniques to achieve widely varying results. The Accent® selectively heats the dermal layers of the skin using radiofrequency to stimulate the production of new collagen, shrink fat cells, and enhance blood circulation to drain fat deposits and toxins. The results are a firmer, sculpted, and more proportioned body by reducing unsightly bulges, excess inches, cellulite, and sagging skin – all without incisions, pain, or downtime. Laser Skin Tightening Using Accent® radiofrequency technology you can now rid yourself of sagging skin around the face, neck, arms, and breasts. By selectively heating the deep dermal layers of the skin with the Accent®, new collagen is produced – resulting in dramatic tightening, firming, and smoothing of the skin. Although multiple treatments are recommended, patients report measurable improvements after a single session. Return to Top |
